Cold drafts don't make you sick...
germs do, in fact,
and also certain thoughts
that wedge themselves
in the folds of your brain,
sometimes subtle like
a new rock in a riverbed,
other times dangerous
like a stone through a lightbulb.
Do not blame the germs,
because they lack
perspective, will never know
that you are sick,
or what sick is. Those thoughts,
however, can hold guilt
like air in a tire.
